If you have cats, you know they are basically clean animals, but your cat litter box might be an entirely different story altogether. When it comes to deciding what is best for your household, you have many options from which to choose. Scoop litters have come a long way, and are a great idea for a clean cat litter box. If you can remember to scoop a few times a day, you should have little to no odor in your home. This is quite impractical though, and you need to find a brand that works well on odors when you can’t get the box scooped as often as you would like.
You can also purchase a cat litter box that does the scooping for you. This is great for a family that is really busy and often forgets to scoop the box. Some come with mechanical attachments that will push the clumps of litter into a tray after the cat has used the litter box. You then only have to empty the tray. You have many choices when choosing a cat litter box, and you should keep the number of cats you have, as well as their size, in mind when choosing. If you have two stories, you should have one on each floor. If you have more than one cat, you will need to purchase more than one cat litter box. Some cats are large, and they will feel cramped in a small, enclosed cat litter box. They may even have a hard time keeping themselves clean if they have to squeeze in. This may cause them to stop using the box at all, and create quite a problem for you. Make sure you choose a cat litter box that is adequate in size for your cats. Another reason cats may not use a cat litter box is because of location. If the box is placed in an area of high traffic, or where there is a lot of noise, they may not be inclined to use the box. Choose areas that are quiet and somewhat secluded. If the sight of a cat litter box leaves you cold, you can buy models that will hide the box entirely. These look like furniture, and many people won’t know there is a cat litter box inside unless you tell them. These are also great for keeping stray litter in the box rather than on your carpets or hardwood floors. Cats are easily trained, and as long as you have a big enough box that is situated in an easy to reach yet quiet spot, you should have no trouble getting them to use it. Keep it clean and quiet, and your cat will use the cat litter box every time. |
